King James Version on CD

By Joe Felim

I purchased the entire Bible series (Old and New Testament) on CD to replace the old cassettes. I major blessing this series has been, as The Word blesses us. I don’t make as much time as I should to sit down and read the Bible. But this series is a certain way to nourish The Spirit in us, and even leads me to make more time to actually sit down and read the Bible. Whether driving or at home, this series is excellent, and although it may sound cliche, it has changed my life, and continues to strengthen and nourish me in God’s word. I highly recommend this series. Don’t worry about the sometimes “hard to understand” language of the NKJ version, the series speaks to the spirit and soul, an intimate understanding and walk with God and His word can definitely be realized, just listen and let it sink in. If you come across parts that are difficult to understand or interpret, make a note or stop the series on the points that need to be better understood, and research them. There are many ways to do so, church, study Bibles, internet sites designated to better understanding of God’s word. If you haven’t committed to reading the Bible or haven’t made a way in your schedule to do so yet, this is an excellent way to begin, or to keep in God’s word.

I ordered this product for a friend of mine who has MS and can’t get out a lot. She has a hard time reading the Bible on her own. So, we decided to get her the CD’s so she could sit down with a portable player and listen to it any time she wanted to hear it. Her and her husband have been listening to the CD’s on a regular CD player and have enjoyed it very much. I’m so grateful to have been able to order this product for them because they are both enjoying them so much. The product came well packed and in a very nice zippered case with a handle to make them very transportable. The sound is crisp and clear to listen to without a headset or on player with headset. So glad to have purchased this at such a bargain price.

I have really just began using the King James Version Audio disks. So far the only problem I have found is that the label for the CD does not always match the index when selecting from the autoplay feature. (I think this discrepancy can be found around Judges or Joshua.) When you start up the CD it will play in autoplay from the correct Book and chapter but you cannot select the chapter. There have been some mispronunciations and/or word substitutions that I have noticed from Gen to Judges. The speed of the reading is more appropriate for many readers than some other recordings to which I have listened. A VERY POSITIVE BENEFIT FOR THAT. However, there seems to be some lapses in energy-feeling-expressiveness but then will pick back up later.

Bible on DVDs

By Joe Felim

When I got this from Thomas Nelson, my kids were so glad to have a new DVDs to watch and immediately asked if they can watch it. So we all sat down and started watching. As you can probably surmise, the DVDs is a collection of thirteen stories from the Bible. The Stories include: The Beginning, Adam & Eve, The Flood, Abram, Isaac & Rebekah, Jacob & Esau, Rachel, Jacob & God, John the Baptist, Jesus is Born, Jesus is Tempted, Jesus Love Children, and One Lost Sheep. If you haven’t told your kids about these stories, then this is a good starting point for you.

I have found that the best way to see if DVDs’s for kids are any good is to test them on the kids. Well, I did. Believe me when I say that my kids are DVDs addicts. They love watching them and when they like something they have a tendency to watch them repeatedly to the point that they know the soundtracks and dialogue by heart.

They were very much enraptured from the moment the first story came on. Because it’s in English, it’s easier to understand for them. The narration was subtle, just the right tone for storytelling for kids. The language was also pretty straightforward so kids won’t be too overwhelmed if they were to watch the DVDs by themselves.

The best part about it is that the stories themselves are very short and quick that works well for kids and their short attention spans. Before they even get bored a new one starts so that’s good.
